A podcast microphone is a specialized recording device designed for podcast recording. Choosing the right microphone is crucial for the sound quality and professional appearance of podcast episodes. There are a variety of podcast microphone types to suit the different needs and experience levels of podcasters. These include USB microphones, which are ideal for beginners and allow for easy setup, and XLR microphones for advanced applications that offer higher sound quality. There are also lavalier microphones, which are particularly suitable for mobile recordings and allow greater freedom of movement. Choosing the right podcast microphone depends on the individual needs, budget, and technical requirements of the podcaster.
Here are our 3 internal favorites:

Entry-level microphone: RØDE NT-USB Mini
We frequently use the Rode NT-USB MINI to ensure our clients always receive top-notch sound quality when recording online podcasts, regardless of their location.

Mid-range microphone: Shure MV 7 USB
The MV7 USB, a dynamic microphone inspired by the renowned SM7B, offers both USB and XLR connections. We use the MV7 USB for webinars and online podcasts.

Premium microphone: Shure SM7b
Since purchasing the SHURE SM7B for our studio productions, the sound quality of our podcasts has noticeably improved. One drawback, however, is that this microphone requires an additional amplifier.
